Sony A7R4 And 200-600 With 1.4 TC At White Bark Vista

Dale Matson

Well, this was the time to air out two new Sony products. I drove to the White Bark vista of the Central Sierra Nevada once again to see what I could capture. You can compare the results to June of this year with the A7R3 and the 100-400 GM here:

I used the haze filter on this post.I needed to use the Photoshop haze filter for the shots I posted here.

There is a considerable difference in size of the mountains compared to the 400 GM (also with the 1.4 TC.) This amounts to 560mm vs 600 with the 1.4 TC 840 and at a 26 APSC crop it is 1260mm. These mountains are about 20-25 miles away except for Bear Dome.

A Tree Must Go

Dale Matson

There is a Redwood Tree between our house and the neighbor. It isn’t an issue of fronds or patchy grass that gets seconds after the tree has had Its fill. It is a matter of roots close to the surface that make putting a shovel into the soil impossible and that are headed to our foundation and the foundation of our neighbor. So, we hired a tree company to limb, top and drop the tree. Tomorrow they will finish the ‘drop’ part.
The trees should never have been planted in the first place and after 30 years, our neighborhood is infested with them. We had the three on our property, in the front and three in the back taken out years ago.
I used to do this for a living and when they are in such tight quarters, the climber needs ropes. It can’t be done with a hydraulic hoist.
