We have been watching the progress of several Golden and Bald Eagle nests again this Spring. This is the third season for the Bald Eagle nest along the Kings River. Two years ago, the nest did not survive a Spring storm. It was a refurbished Blue Heron nest and was never suitable for the eagles. Last year the eagles relocated to a nearby tree and built a good nest suitable for their two chicks.

This year the eagles outdid themselves with three chicks that are close to fledging. The parents rarely show up except for food drops. I was able to photograph the parent on the nest from across the river but otherwise, the parents were a no-show.
